Hello! This is the page about the space in which the magic happens. My day starts by pressing that sensitive little button on the front of my mac and is always followd by a new adventure. Sometimes that adventure entails the beauty of sounds I’ve never heard before and sometimes that adventure consists of updates, computer crashes and software that disappears – you all know what I’m talking about. We’re only going to focus on the musical adventures here though…
My studio is nestled in the hills above Hollywood in Beachwood canyon. There are many legends, hawks and coyotes up here with plenty of quiet so I can disturb my neighbors by turning the tweed way up.
Here are some pics of the studio and, for all you gear geeks like me, captions on some of the fun stuff I love to use on my records and soundtracks… Click on the “I” in the corner to read what I have to say…

no pickups! whaaaaat??? that's becuase this is a line 6 guitar with. like, 25 guitars sampled into it...but i'll tell you a secret - the BANJO sound on this thing is really good. [img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-002.jpg]
this is my piano. it is an upright full of magic, old songs and dead crickets. (seriously.) i love it and i call it the 'old man' becuse it's almost 150 years old and he's my buddy. i've moved him three times. poor guy.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-003.jpg]
this is my ukelele and my electric fender mandolin. they are very close to each other and make a joyful noise when layered. [img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-004.jpg]
my very, very old casiotone. this is the one of the first of the great bar mitzvah "all-in-one" casios from the late 70's. it's got some great funky sounds in it that i use with tons of delay and a little smack of distortion on my new record. [img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-005.jpg]
my lap steel. vicious when turned up loud through any amp. an old friend that has never let me down.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-006.jpg]
fully weighted. almost like the real thing... great clav sound that i have yet to make good use of - but i will as soon as i can find the right song...like 'superstition'[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-007.jpg]
my fender 85 that has been everywhere. i have other amps but this one is still kicking - so i thought i'd share it. [img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-008.jpg]
original adam a7's that i can't live without.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-009.jpg]
my digi 002 because i like the feel of faders. [img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-010.jpg]
trashy hat that has made it on to 90% of my soundtracks[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-011.jpg]
the guitar on the right is four-string martin from the 50's that changed my life when it was first 'loaned' to me by my dear father in law. it sounds like a warm summer evening in georgia or the hills of spain...depending on who's playing what on it.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-012.jpg]
do not underestimate this little monotron synth! go buy one now. you will thank me.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-013.jpg]
no studio should be without a few toys like the stylophone. yes, i have used it on recordings. no, it does not sound good on recordings.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-014.jpg]
weird looking blue mandolin that i have used so much i don't think i could ever do without it. it looks so strange but it sounds so sweet.[img src=http://matthewpuckett.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/studio/thumbs/thumbs_studio-015.jpg]
god, i love this thing. this delay box is much more than a loop pedal. i use this every day and figure out something new every time. i love shit like this that almost has a mind of it's own. eventide.
